The radiological equipments of the Center allows us to perform most of the current x-ray examinations, CT and contrast-media procedures excluded. All our diagnostic units are digital models equipped with automatic exposure control. The x-ray examinations are performed with digital radiology systems (CR and DR). All these devices are used to minimize the patient’s amount of radiation exposure and to optimize the image quality.

The x-ray examinations that are performed in the Center are as follows:

• Chest
• Bones and Joints (of all body parts)
• Abdomen
• Soft Tissues
• Mammography
• Tomography of temporo-mandibular joints
• Dental Panoramic (Orthopantomography)
• Cephalometric Teleradiography
• CT cone beam (Dentalscan)

All our examinations are given to the patient as digital prints on film, like the radiographies of the past. This is our choice, in order to enable the attending Physician to see easily and quickly the images, avoiding time-consuming and sometimes unsuccessful loading of the CD on the desk computer. This choice is appreciated, in particular, by Orthopaedics, Dentists, Orthodontists and by all those who need to perform measurements on the x-ray films.

Of course, all the radiographies can be forwarded also as digital files recorded on CD, upon a patient’s request. The reports of dental cone-beam CT are always composed by a CD with the full record of the examination and by film prints of the areas of interest.

Ultrasound diagnosis is one of the outstanding points of the Center, thanks also to the leadership and the continuous care of its director prof. Renato Nessi M.D. from the University of Milan, who was one of the pioneers of soft tissue ultrasonography in early eighties.

All the main ultrasound examinations can be performed within the Center, except obstetric, ocular and echocardiographic sonographies. In particular:

• Abdomen (upper, lower and complete)
• Urinary Tract
• Bladder and Pelvis (both male and female)
• Breast
• Thyroid and Neck
• Salivary Glands
• Aorta and Abdominal Vessels (with Doppler ultrasound)
• Neonatal Hip
• Muscles and Tendons
• Joints
• Lymph Nodes
• Superficial Soft Tissues
• Vascular Echo-Doppler and Color-Doppler

The reports of all the ultrasound examination are forwarded with a full documentation of diagnostic images in both in b/w and color prints.

The Senological unit of the Center performs mainly Mammography and Breast Ultrasound. Both are directly supervised by prof. Renato Nessi M.D., who comes from a long-term experience in this field at the National Tumor Institute of Milan.

All our senological examinations are performed as clinical and instrumental procedures. This means that they are associated with the clinical examination of the patient. Our Center does not perform “blind” screening mammography.

The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation unit of the Center operates under orthopaedic and physiatric supervision. This unit performs instrumental therapies (Physiotherapy) as well as manual treatments and rehabilitations (Massages and Kinesitherapy).

The instrumental treatments include:

• Lasertherapy
• TECAR (resistive and capacitive electrotherapy)
• Ultrasound therapy
• Radartherapy (short-wave therapy)
• Iontophoresis
• Magnetotherapy
• Electrotherapies (ELS, TENS, CDD)

The manual rehabilitations, that are always performed by qualified Physiotherapists, include:

• Massages
• Kinesitherapy
• Lymphatic drainage

The TECAR therapy too is always carried out by a Physiotherapist. In addition, our unit makes it possible to treat many acute and chronic pathological conditions of tendons, muscles and joints with:

• shock-wave therapy

Shock-wave therapy is always performed personally by an orthopaedic Physician.

All these procedures are always undertaken following a medical prescription. In the absence of it, however, the medical staff of the Center may suggest a valuable therapeutic program to be submitted to the attending Physician.

The Diagnostic Center holds a collection point for blood and laboratory examinations that refers to the analysis medical laboratory Affidea – Montesanto. The blood sampling is always carried out by a qualified nursing staff.

All the main blood examinations are performed by the laboratory. For a full list and for any additional information please call the secretary at 02 83595397 on mornings.

Blood sampling is performed from 7,30 to 9.15 A.M. every morning.

The results and the reports of the examinations can be withdrawn at our desk on printed form, or they can be downloaded from the lab website using a personal access code that is forwarded at the time of sampling.
